9th Annual
Earth Day Art Contest Rules


This year, only students who are enrolled at Schultz Elementary School are eligible to participate.


  1. The 9th Annual Earth Day Art Contest begins on Monday, August 27, 2018 and ends on Wednesday April 10, 2019. No entries will be accepted after April 10, 2019 at 5 p.m.
  2. The theme of the art must be focused on water conservation in conjunction with the celebration of Earth Day which occurs each year during the month of April.
  3. Students shall submit only one piece of art per person in the competition.
  4. Students will create a piece of art no bigger than the following-
    • If 2 (two) dimensional, it cannot exceed 24” x 36”.
    • If 3 (three) dimensional, it cannot exceed 24” x 24” x 36”
  5. The art piece may be created in any medium (as long as it stays within the parameters stated in #4) including, but not limited to,
    • poster
    • painting
    • clay or pottery
    • sculpture
    • bronze
    • other
  6. All art must be submitted to Ms. Baez by Wednesday, April 10.
  7. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for each grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. All 1st places winners will then compete for overall champion.
  8. Overall Winners will receive-
    • 1st place: Gold medallion and a $250 gift card to Hobby Lobby or Michael’s.
    • 2nd place: Silver medallion and a $100 gift card to Hobby Lobby of Michael’s
    • 3rd place: Bronze medallion and a $50 gift card to Hobby Lobby or Michael’s
  9. All awards will be announced and distributed on Monday, April 22 which is Earth Day!
  10. All overall art winners will be placed on display at the offices where the utility holds its meetings for one year and then returned to the owners.

Tips for Winning!

  • Look at the theme – Water Conservation and how it relates to Earth Day.
  • Look up the definitions of water conservation and Earth Day.
  • Use a search engine such as Google, etc. to look for ideas on water conservation, Earth Day, etc.
  • Do not copy entries from previous years! Create original art!
  • Give yourself plenty of time to complete the art project!
  • Abstract art is wonderful but try to clearly communicate the theme!
  • You can't win if you don't submit!
  • Submit your work by the designated deadline.
